MEET THE TEAM

Rachel Russell

Operations director

Rachel oversees the running and development of The History Quill’s systems and services, and manages the editing services and group coaching programme. She holds a degree in English Literature and previously served as The History Quill’s executive editor.

She lives on the Essex coast with her husband and son. She’s passionate about history, particularly from the 19th century onwards, with a special interest in social and domestic history. Her favourite historical novels often have a gothic edge, a hint of mystery, or weave together dual timelines connecting past and present. She’s especially drawn to women’s fiction and sweeping family sagas.

If she ever found herself stranded on a desert island, she’d struggle to choose two books to take with her, but she’d probably opt for Dear Mrs Bird by AJ Pearce, for its warmth, wit, and poignancy, and The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley – though she’d happily settle for any of Riley’s captivating novels.
